Welcome to the revamped Australian Dental Students Convention Committee (ADSCC) website!

When the ADSCC was established in late 2006, its mission was to bridge the divide between dental students across Australia. Since our early beginnings, we have had fantastic Australian Dental Student Conventions (ADSC) at Adelaide 2007 and Sydney 2008. ADSC Perth 2009 promises to be no different with the usual shenanigans of the social programme, a strong academic programme and tradeshow to boot.

ADSCs are our flagship event and a fantastic opportunity to meet dental students from across Australia, make lasting friendships and soak in the experience of a new city.

Times are changing. The field of dentistry is continually growing. Training is continually adapting. For example there is talk of a mandatory one-year internship post-graduation and rural schools of dentistry have had their first intakes. It is only through communication, through collaboration and “Standing Together” that we will have a coherent national voice. From our travels across Australia and our talks with representatives from every school of dentistry, it is readily apparent that we face common challenges and yet seek individual solutions.

ADSC Perth 2009 is particularly exciting as we will be transitioning into a fully fledged Australian Dental Students Association (ADSA) that is built upon the foundations of ADSCC. The success of ADSA relies not only on the work of its executive and committee, but with you: the individual dental student. Your enthusiasm and involvement are the grassroot foundations of our unified association. You are, and always will be, the core of our association.

We look forward to meeting you all and are happy to answer any questions you might have. Don’t dawdle! Round up your mates, get your registrations in, book your tickets and get ready for some West Coast Overdose!
